Canmore, ALBERTA – “Do you eat
turkey?”
That was one question I received when an American friend learned that Monday was a statutory holiday here in Canada, as our nation celebrates Thanksgiving.
“Naturally”, I replied. “We invented it, then you guys decided October was too early and set a date late in November – in time to really launch the ski season. Makes sense”….
😎
I have to admit, I am often amused at how little Americans know about their largest and closest neighbour to the North – still, to this day, her #1 trading partner. I have to keep reminding myself, when you are the mouse sharing
space with an elephant, it’s a matter of survival to the former, to be always aware of the actions of the latter!
Anyway…with everything that has gone on over the past year, with government working to control which businesses can be open, when and to whom they may allow in…most of us have much still to be thankful for.
One of the things I’m thankful for is the group of phenomenal business coaches I am a part of and being able to call one of the founders, my friend and mentor.
This past Friday was his birthday. And on this day, in his daily! newsletter, he included this excellent piece of wisdom.
“A lot of famous people give out advice you’d be better off not listening to…
Anthony Hopkins isn’t one of them.
Here’s some advice I read that felt timely on my birthday:
Let go of the people who are
not prepared to love you.
Stop showing up for people who have no real interest in your presence.
The more time you spend trying to make yourself loved by someone who is unable to, the more time you waste depriving yourself of the connection to someone wholly accepting of
you.
The most valuable thing you have in your life is your time and energy.
Where you give your time and energy defines your existence.
Decide that you deserve
true friendship, commitment, true and complete love with healthy and prosperous people.
Then wait and see how much everything begins to change.”
This change will give you the love, the self-esteem, happiness and the protection you deserve.
Not everyone will be ready to follow you to this place.”

This goes for personal and business associations. Examine the 5 people you hang out with most. Are the kind who truly wishes you to perform at your best and are themselves, examples you would like to
emulate?
If not, time to change who you spend time with.
To your health and success
